This report by Cathy Farnworth and Vincent Akamandisa gives an insight in the changes in gender relations that occurred during a GALS process in a coffee value chain. It is based on a field study with Bukonzo Joint Cooperative Union, a coffee and microfinance cooperative based in Kasese district in Western Uganda. The researchers looked at what changes farmers and other stakeholders reported by themselves through their internal GALS monitoring, and verified this to obtain a deeper understanding of the changes that occurred.
