We always search for effective methodologies to address gender inequality and social exclusion in development projects. There are many examples of success in specific contexts and situations. The Gender Action Learning System (GALS) worked effectively in many different contexts, however not as a blueprint from a manual. Local people in communities always need to adapt it to their situation. Still, there is a common basis that makes the methodology effective wherever it is used. Please read and comment on these seven principles outlined here to guide anyone who wants to use GALS, while we continue to learn from champions on the ground.
