The Empowerment learning centre(ELC) is located in Yiapi village, Ayavu parish, Vurra sub county Arua District, West Nile, Uganda, 15km from Arua Town.

PURPOSE 
•	To empower both men and women on Gender equality in rural areas through training and role play
•	To reach people from thousands to millions through peer sharing of GALS methodology
•	To empower Rural community in taking lead to address their Gender injustice at house hold level and community at large  
•	To provide training, outreaches and learning for the rural poor from hundreds to thousands and to millions  
•	Training farmers on agricultural practices, building and marketing produce of farmers
•	Advocate for the rights of vulnerable people e.g. youth, women and PWDs Sensitization of sanitation and household management 

Services at the ELC
•	Hosting local, National and international learners on GALS Methodology at the ELC,
•	Train households, community members, Community base Organizations (CBOs), NGOs, Small and medium entrepreneurs (SME), INGOs, IFAD partners, local Government staff and also provide out reaches on GALS through champions base on demand from the clients.
•	Peer to peer replication is happening from those who are trained by the champions as a result of changes that has been seen on them by community members and these are taking place with the households, extended families, friends and in-laws.
•	Certification process takes place during reviews meeting of the champions in which different generations of champions interact that is 1st to the 4th generations and presentations of tools takes place for quality assurance and the generations provide evidence of who train them and recommendation are made on who becomes champion but no certificate is provided but the champions know their social ranking.

PROGRAMME AREAS
•	The empowerment learning centres carry on Village saving loan and credit association (VSLA) to support their empowerment learning centre and the members 
•	Empowerment learning centre members and the champions participate in both individual and joint production of some crops like beans and cassava Value chain and they also do bulking and joint marketing after value addition. 
•	Continuous Capacity building on group dynamics for the empowerment learning centre leadership."</title>

GALS expertise is advanced and the total number of Champions are 47(M17&#38;F30) the total number of member 476(301F&#38;175M)" to "Poro poro is a registered co-operative society with commissioner of cooperative Ministry of trade and Commerce in Uganda and their Empowerment learning Centre (ELC) is registered with the sub-county local Government to operate as an ELC which is a department within the cooperative Society.

The ELC is located in Kemeru village, Alinga parish, Kuru sub county Yumbe District, West Nile, Northern Uganda 1km from Kuru Trading centre. Contacts (+256776070955 Ajuga Ahmad or Nyakuru samisa +256786139273)

PURPOSE
