The Empowerment learning centre(ELC) is located in Yiapi village, Ayavu parish, Vurra sub county Arua District, West Nile, Uganda, 15km from Arua Town. Contacts (+256782084755 Draniga Leo or Zawadi Esther +256789865299) PURPOSE • To empower both men and women on Gender equality in rural areas through training and role play • To reach people from thousands to millions through peer sharing of GALS methodology • To empower Rural community in taking lead to address their Gender injustice at house hold level and community at large • To provide training, outreaches and learning for the rural poor from hundreds to thousands and to millions • Training farmers on agricultural practices, building and marketing produce of farmers • Advocate for the rights of vulnerable people e.g. youth, women and PWDs Sensitization of sanitation and household management Services at the ELC • Hosting local, National and international learners on GALS Methodology at the ELC, • Train households, community members, Community base Organizations (CBOs), NGOs, Small and medium entrepreneurs (SME), INGOs, IFAD partners, local Government staff and also provide out reaches on GALS through champions base on demand from the clients. • Peer to peer replication is happening from those who are trained by the champions as a result of changes that has been seen on them by community members and these are taking place with the households, extended families, friends and in-laws. • Certification process takes place during reviews meeting of the champions in which different generations of champions interact that is 1st to the 4th generations and presentations of tools takes place for quality assurance and the generations provide evidence of who train them and recommendation are made on who becomes champion but no certificate is provided but the champions know their social ranking.
